Is this you?

If even one of these sounds like you, making the call could be the best thing you do for your body this year. One conversation is usually enough to know whether this is what finally shifts it.

  • A niggle that keeps coming back It settles when you rest it, then returns the moment life goes back to normal.
  • Physio helped, then it wore off The treatment calmed the area. Nothing changed what was loading it every day.
  • You sit for work and feel it Back, neck, and hips paying the bill for eight hours at a desk.
  • Strong in the gym, stiff outside it Good numbers on the lifts, but awkward on a hike, a sprint, or the stairs.
  • You want to move like an athlete again More speed, more capacity, more left in the tank at the end of an ordinary day.
  • You're rebuilding after a layoff Back into training without collecting the same injury on the way in.

Different starting points, same work. Pain and athleticism come down to the same thing: how well your body shares load. Fix that and the sore spot stops taking the beating, while everything you want to do on top of it gets easier.

What makes this different

Most training adds load to a body that isn't organized to carry it. Get stronger on top of a compensation and the compensation just gets stronger too.

Gait and posture first

Assessed before anything gets loaded. Those patterns are what every rep sits on top of.

The whole chain, not one muscle

Less isolating on machines. More restoring how ribcage, pelvis, and feet coordinate.

Measured outside the gym

A workday without the back ache. A run that doesn't cost you tomorrow.

Not a fit for everyone. Want a bodybuilding split, a bootcamp, or someone to count reps at you? Syracuse has gyms that do that well. This is slower, more technical work aimed at changing how you move.

How it works

Same four steps whether you came in with a knee that won't quit or just want more out of your body.

Start with an assessment

1.5 hours. Health history, limitations, goals, and a full posture and gait analysis to find what's actually driving it.

Get a plan built for you

You leave knowing what your body needs and why, plus the myofascial release and corrective work it'll be built on.

Train 1-on-1

One-hour sessions, coached the whole way through. Movement quality first, load second.

Make it hold

Simple homework between sessions, and steady progression as your mechanics improve.

Common questions

Still weighing it up? These are the ones that come up most.

How is this different from physical therapy?

Physical therapy usually concentrates on rehabilitating the injured area. This works the other end of the problem: the standing, walking, and breathing mechanics that keep loading that area day after day. It's why something can feel better after treatment and then return once normal life reloads it the same way. It complements your medical care rather than replacing it, and anything sudden, severe, or worsening should be seen by a doctor first.

Do I need to be in pain to start?

No. Plenty of clients arrive with nothing wrong at all and simply want to move better and build capacity. The assessment and the training are the same either way, because better load distribution is what makes pain settle and what makes athletic movement easier. Clients have ranged from ages 9 to 82.

What actually happens in the first session?

The initial consultation runs 1.5 hours: health history, movement limitations, and goals, then a full posture and gait analysis to find what's driving the problem, finishing with an introduction to the myofascial release and corrective work your program will be built on.

How long until I notice a change?

Most clients notice improvements in posture and movement awareness within the first few sessions. More significant changes in pain levels and movement quality typically show up within four to eight weeks of consistent training, though everyone progresses at their own pace.

Where are sessions, and can I train online?

Sessions run at 216 Fayette St, Manlius, NY 13104 (a shared space formally labeled as a Kumon Learning Center), serving Syracuse and Onondaga County. All equipment is provided. If you're outside the area, the same 1-on-1 coaching runs live over Zoom, and all you need is a small clear space to move in and a phone or laptop camera.

When can I train, and is it ever a group class?

Hours are Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 8:00pm, and Saturday, 7:00am to 6:00pm. Every session is 1-on-1. There are no group classes and no shared sessions.

Who will I be working with?

Viktor Nikolovski, certified HBS2 and Functional Patterns Level 2. Before Syracuse, he spent over a year coaching at Functional Patterns Costa Mesa, one of the most established FP gyms in the world, working with athletes, office workers, seniors, and clients managing chronic injury.

From chronic knee pain to sprinting again

I didn't learn this from a textbook. I rebuilt my own body with it.

  • Chronic knee pain, a lower back that kept going out, an ankle that never settled
  • Four years ago, running was off the table entirely
  • Three years of this training later: sprinting, with no pain at all
  • More athletic now than I was ten years ago, not just out of pain

This is my gait now

Pain-free running, something that felt out of reach four years ago.
